The Case for Vinyl in 2026 (Yes, Again)
Every few years someone declares vinyl dead or vinyl back, and honestly I've stopped paying attention to the discourse. I just like records.
The Honest Pitch
I'm not going to tell you it "sounds warmer" or pretend my ears can detect the analog magic. Here's the real case:
- It makes you listen to a whole album. No skipping, no shuffle. You commit to the artist's sequencing.
- It's a physical object with art. The 12-inch sleeve is its own little piece of the experience.
- Flipping the record is a ritual. It forces a pause. In 2026 a forced pause is almost medicinal.
It's slower, it's more expensive, and it's objectively less convenient than streaming. That's kind of the point. Some things are better when you have to work for them a little.
